A chawan is a bowl that is essential in traditional Japanese tea ceremony, designed for both preparing and drinking matcha. Our chawan is artisanally crafted by Marco Rosario (@marcorokuro), a local studio potter whose work beautifully balances functionality with contemporary aesthetics. The bowl's thoughtful proportions and depth make it perfect for preparing both usucha (thin tea) and koicha (thick tea)

  • Studio Pottery: Each piece is handcrafted locally in small batches
  • Contemporary Design: Clean white glaze accentuates the natural ceramic texture and modern form
  • Versatile Function: Perfectly suited for both usucha (thin tea) and koicha (thick tea)
  • Traditional Form: Ideal depth and width for proper whisking motion and comfortable drinking experience

Usage and Care Instructions:

  1. First Use: Rinse with warm water before initial use
  2. Regular Care: Hand wash with gentle soap and warm water
  3. After Use: Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth
  4. Storage: Store in a dry place, avoid extreme temperature changes
  5. Temperature Note: Not recommended for microwave or dishwasher use

Note: As each piece is individually hand-built and glazed, slight variations in size, glaze, and texture may occur, making each piece a unique work of ceramic art.
